About Jed

Guest Bible Teacher • Physician • Composer

Background

For nearly 20 years God has graciously given me opportunities to exposit Scripture in churches throughout California. I live in Orange County with my wife and our four young children and work professionally as a radiologist (basically a doctor with X-ray vision 😄).

I grew up in a Catholic home, but in 2002 God led me to an evangelical Christian church where I came to a personal faith in Jesus and became convinced of the authority and truth of Scripture over manmade traditions. Around that same time I was in medical school learning about the fascinating design complexity of the human body. In first-year embryology class, for example, I couldn't get over the fact that in the womb our intestines actually leave the abdomen, rotate 270 degrees, and then return before birth. 🤯 Uhh-mazing! Experiences like that only strengthened my conviction that God's truth is revealed both in His Word and in His world.

Teaching

My interest in teaching actually began earlier in high school when I started tutoring math and science. After coming to faith, that same desire gradually shifted toward teaching the Bible—first through Bible studies, and later in the pulpit when the opportunity arose.

Music

Music has also been a lifelong interest. I began learning piano at an early age, though for many years I couldn't write an original song to save my life. Then around 2008 it suddenly felt like God opened the floodgates, such that by the following year I was able to release a collection of ten original Christian songs and arrangements. In fact, it was through my musical interests that God led me to that evangelical church in the first place, as I was searching for a venue for my piano recital at the time—using a phone book (remember those? 😄).

Ministry

Whether through a sermon or a song, my passion and goal are the same: to help bring people closer to God—whether they are encountering Him for the first time or for the umpteenth time—and to magnify their awe of and love for Him. I especially enjoy seeing listeners engaged with both their mind (the occasional "Amen!") and their heart (sometimes even tears). Few things are more rewarding for me, because few things align my strengths and passions so closely with God's purposes.
